First off, a big thanks to all our sponsors. Without these guys we wouldn’ t be hacking this weekend!
Remember to check out the Kickoff party this Friday starting at 7 PM, brought to you by GB Internet Solutions. The kickoff party is a great way to meet your fellow hackers, possibly form a team, and shake hands with local sponsors.
Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for – our list of APIs for our event this Saturday, September 28th
HackREGINA Fall 2013 APIs
GasBuddy API - GasBuddy.com is the leading source for local gas price information for North America. The GasBuddy API will allow you to search local gas prices by geo location, city, zip code or postal code. There will also be access to detailed station information. The API is implemented using HTTP and JSON.
Documentation and examples will be provided at the event.
YellowAPI - YellowAPI (also known as the Yellow Pages API) is the go-to resource for location-based applications. Our curated local search API is built off of the strength of the Yellow Pages database of over 1.5 million geo-localized business listings and associated rich content. Not only is it free, but we offer ways for you to make money fast. We provide the tools, you provide the ideas and the talent.
To check out the YellowAPI Documentation and sign up for a developer key, go to http://www.yellowapi.com/
GitHub API – The GitHub API provides access to notifications, gists, git data, issue tracking, and more for both public and private repos hosted in GitHub. To explore the API and get more information on it’s capabilities, check out developer.github.com
Context.IO - Context.IO is a REST email API that makes it easy and fast to integrate your user’s email data in your application. Context.IO takes care of synching email data for your app so you don’t have to build, scale and maintain this infrastructure yourself. Focus on what’s unique to your business, we’ll manage the technical details of integrating with arcane email server protocols.
City of Regina Data Portal - The City of Regina is pleased to provide a number of data sets for developers to explore and use for HackREGINA. This data should provide the opportunity to create applications limited only by an imagination. The City’s data sets will provide location and descriptive information for the City of Regina’s geographic features (recreation, schools, roads, landuse, political and community boundaries), as well as cemetery data, waste disposal, transit and more.
Check out the City of Regina’s Open Data Site at http://openregina.cloudapp.net/
Prairie Dev Con Data - We’re putting our own API up as an option for developers to consider. Whoever builds the best Prairie Dev Con based app will receive free passes to the November event in Saskatoon (up to a group of 3)!
eHealth Data - For the purpose of this event, eHealth is providing a number of data sets for developers to work with that include health care facility data, covered population data, service access data, geospatial and other system-related data. The potential for generating apps that target improved awareness for patients, ability to collect data, and share information securely is endless. All information provided is de-identified and does not include any personal information as defined under The Health Information Privacy Protection Act (HIPA) or The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).
