Spring 2014 Sponsoring APIs

GasBuddy API - GasBuddy.com is the leading source for local gas price information for North America.  The GasBuddy API will allow you to search local gas prices by geo location, city, zip code or postal code.  There will also be access to detailed station information.  The API is implemented using HTTP and JSON.

Documentation and examples will be provided at the event.

YellowAPI - YellowAPI (also known as the Yellow Pages API) is the go-to resource for location-based applications. Our curated local search API is built off of the strength of theYellowPages.ca database of over 1.5 million geo-coded Canadian business listings and associated rich content. We provide the tools, you provide the ideas and the talent. It is also free to use.

The Places API allows you to stream top Canadian local search content into your applications. Using our database of over 1.5 million geo-coded business listings and associated rich content, you can deliver the best data to your users without the need for your own directory. It is easy to use and extremely powerful. The Deals API beta provides the best content from the largest deals and coupons database in Canada, powered by RedFlagDeals.com

eHealth Data - For the purpose of this event, eHealth is providing a number of data sets for developers to work with that include health care facility data, covered population data, service access data, geospatial and other system-related data. The potential for generating apps that target improved awareness for patients, ability to collect data, and share information securely is endless. All information provided is de-identified and does not include any personal information as defined under The Health Information Privacy Protection Act (HIPA) or The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).

Cashtie API - The Cashtie API links retail POS payments to software applications. Cashtie is an InComm product and InComm is connected to the POS of some of the largest retailers in the world, including WalMart, Target, BestBuy, CVS, Couche-Tard and many more. Cashtie is used to enable bill payments of i.e. utility bills at a retailers cash register. The cashier scans a barcode for the transaction, just like they scan a barcode on a carton of milk, the consumer pays and done. Cashtie can be used as well to provide a cash payment option at retail for online ecommerce transactions or to sell digital content like movie rentals, music or digital magazines in a brick and mortar retail store, using the Cashtie barcode as a line item in the consumers retail transaction and based on payment received at the cash register deliver the digital content. Cashtie sends real time confirmation via web hooks once a payment is made at a cash register. Payments can be made with all types of tender methods, cash, credit card or debit card – depending on the retailers settings.

Twilio API – Twilio brings voice and messaging to your web and mobile applications.  The Twilio API provides access to make and receive phone calls, send and receive SMS, manage phone conferences, manage caller queues, and record and transcribe phone calls.

Twilio’s API documentation and signup can be found at http://www.twilio.com/docs

Wit API- The Wit API makes it easy for developers to build Siri-like voice-powered apps. It turns speech or SMS into actionable data. No rules, no grammars, no VoiceXML: Wit learns from the examples you provide in a simple web console ; you can get started in 5 minutes.

We provide iOS, Android and Web SDKs to help you stream audio to the API. You get JSON in return: if the user says “wake me up tomorrow at 7”, you’ll get something like {“intent”: “set_alarm”, “datetime” : “20140317T070000”}.

You can get more information about Wit and see their API documentation on their docs page

Windows Azure – Add a cloud backend to your apps in minutes, enabling your apps to reach every user on every platform. With support for popular languages and open REST APIs, you’ll be ready to integrate Windows Azure into your apps in minutes. Use any of Windows Azure’s APIs to complete your hacks. You’ll need to activate a FREE trial or your MSDN Windows Azure benefits prior to using Windows Azure.
