HackREGINA Spring 2014 Winners!

First a big thanks to our location, event, community, and API sponsors for supporting our 5th hackathon.  We had a great turn out with about 20 developers creating 8 projects!  You can see all the submitted projects online on our challengepost website – hackreginaspring2014.challengepost.com

Here’s our winners!

1st Place – Commtivity

Commtivity is a web application that allows you to post activities for others to join.  If you’re playing soccer in the park, post it on the site – Commtivity will let other subscribers in the area know via text message that there’s a game to join.

2nd Place, People’s Choice – SafeStation

SafeStation correlates the location of gas stations in Regina with neighbourhood crime data to present a list of the most and least safe gas stations to fill up at in Regina.

APIs Used: GasBuddy API, Regina Police Service Community Crime Data

 

3rd Place – Plan Ahead

Use the PlanAhead web app on your desktop or mobile device to determine the best gas stations to fill up at along your road trip.

APIs used: GasBuddy API

 

 

 

Student Prize – Witty Bot

Witty Bot uses an Arduino, an android phone, and the Wit API to send voice commands to a motorized bot that can move forward, move backwards, and fetch you a beer.
