About

HackDays started in Toronto (Canada) over coffee by two friends.

HackDays bring together the brightest geeks in technology across Canada. We hack together in a single day awesome applications using local APIs. We select local APIs, make them available to developers with expert guidance from the API providers and an environment where you are going to be excited about hacking and creating! The HackDays hackahons are also a competition: as a developer you will compete for great prizes and glory! And who knows: perhaps you will meet the team you will be building your next startup with at HackDays.

 FOUNDERS

Leila Boujnane, HackDays Founder, a startup addict and community builder.

CEO of TinEye, the world’s first web scale reverse image search engine. Workaholic. A bit obsessed with large scale image search. Interested in hacking, photography, technology, startups, surfing, motorcycling and bourbon. While not running a startup and building stuff, Leila trains to run ultra marathons and is actively dreaming about completing her first 100 mile race. One day. In the not too distant future.

Leila wants to make sure that every single developer interested in flexing her coding muscles gets a chance to do just that!

Corey Reid, HackDays co-Founder

Developer herder and sword handler at Freshbooks

Cat Herding requires a wide range of skills — Corey brings years of experience and a skillset that pretty much defines “wide-ranging”: an instructor of Japanese swordsmanship who designs tabletop role-playing games and writes reasonably competent ottava rima, he remains bemused that an English degree has been useful in this industry. He writes about software development management, swordfighting and games and at FreshBooks, is expanding the hotshot development team to meet the challenges of the company’s rapid growth. He has pretty crazy ideas on what makes a great software team, mostly involving “Making Sure Developers Are Insanely Happy” and that’s exactly what he also does for HackDays!

Bradley Wing, HackDays Sensei

Director, YellowAPI.com

The YellowAPI is the public platform for the Yellow Pages Group, offering the most relevant geo-local database today, and it’s FREE. Brad and his team have built YellowAPI over the past 2 years and since the very beginning have been focused on supporting the developer community. Brad likes things to be free, not only his mobile apps and data, but his rivers and lakes where you will find him fly fishing and sipping añejo tequilas when not at a hackathon. With a background in international business, languages and mobile development, he wants to help developers build the next great mobile applications.
